These new elements also raise a few questions. What is the function of the solar panels - to generate electricity or to heat water? A glass roof will create a warm interior environment (think greenhouse) unless well ventilated, shaded, or implemented with great care in terms of glazing types. Will your climate lend itself to this construction, or would the incorporation of skylights achieve your design goals? These are slightly complicated questions to answer, but such considerations will either present the clear reasons for their incorporation or lead you to other options that solve the basic problem at hand. I am actually interested in knowing more about why you elected to do the glass roof. It is a bold move!
